Terms of Use

A. Agreement

These Terms of Use (the "Terms", also our end-user licence agreement) are an agreement between you and Jazz Games ("Jazz Games", "we", "us") for the Vice Empire game and its related services (the "Game"). By installing, signing in to or playing the Game you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Game. Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.

If you got the Game from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it conflicts with these Terms on a matter it covers, Apple's terms win. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to support the Game.

We may update these Terms. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the Game. Playing on after a change means you accept it.

B. Who may play

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough under the laws where you live to agree to these Terms, and to play a game rated for its content in your country. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you.

C. It is fiction

Vice Empire is a work of fiction about a criminal empire. Its people, places, businesses, crimes and gangs are invented, and any resemblance to real ones is coincidence. The Game does not encourage or endorse crime, violence or gambling in real life. The card room in the Game is a building you own, not a way to gamble: nothing in the Game can be wagered, won or cashed out for money or anything of value.

Some things the Game's characters say are written by an AI model from the Game's own data. It is fiction and may be wrong, strange or inconsistent.

D. Your licence

We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and play the Game on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense or distribute the Game; reverse-engineer, decompile or modify it (except where the law allows); or use it in any way that breaks the law or these Terms.

E. Your account

You can play without signing in; if you do, your progress lives on this device and our servers under an anonymous account, and it can be lost if you delete the Game. Signing in with Apple or Google keeps your game with that account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time in the Game (Settings, Delete account); what that removes is set out in the Privacy Policy.

F. Virtual items and purchases

The Game's money, connections, businesses, crews and other items are virtual. They have no value outside the Game, cannot be exchanged for real money or anything of value, and are not your property; you have a licence to use them in the Game. We may change, rebalance or remove them, including as the Game changes, and a raid, a fight or a choice in the Game can lose them.

Purchases and subscriptions are made through Apple and are governed by Apple's terms, including its refund policy. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, in your Apple ID settings. Where the law gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content, you agree that delivery begins immediately and that the right ends when it does, as far as the law allows.

G. Playing with others

Other players can see your nickname and your empire, attack it, and talk to you. That is the Game. What is not:

Chat is filtered automatically, and you can block and report players. We may remove content, reset a nickname, remove you from a clan, reset progress gained unfairly, or suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, with or without notice.

H. Your content

You keep the rights to what you write. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, show, filter and remove it as needed to run the Game. You are responsible for what you post.

I. Our property

The Game, including its code, art, paintings, music, sounds, story, characters and the Vice Empire name and crown logo, belongs to Jazz Games or its licensors and is protected by law. All rights not granted in these Terms are reserved.

J. Changes and availability

The Game is a live service. We may add, change or remove features, seasons and content, require updates, or stop offering the Game, and it may be unavailable at times. Online features need an internet connection; your carrier's charges are yours. If we shut down the Game entirely we will give reasonable notice in it.

K. Third-party services

The Game relies on services run by others, such as Apple, Google Firebase, RevenueCat and Meta. Their terms and policies apply to them, and we are not responsible for them.

L. Disclaimer

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, THE GAME IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR FREE OF ERRORS, OR THAT PROGRESS OR VIRTUAL ITEMS WILL NEVER BE LOST.

M. Limitation of liability

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, JAZZ GAMES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE GAME. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT THE GAME WILL NOT EXCEED WHAT YOU PAID US FOR IT IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

N. Ending

You can stop playing and delete your account at any time. Your licence ends automatically if you break these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as C, F, I, L, M and O, survive.

O. Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where Jazz Games has its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence apply. If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
